To keep your luxury co-pilot operating at its peak, Genesis continuously refines its software. Here is everything you need to know about Genesis Multimedia & Map Updates, how they enhance your daily drive, and how easily you can keep your vehicle updated.

The Genesis Advantage: 5 Years of Complimentary Updates

When you purchase or lease a vehicle with us at Genesis Ajax, you gain access to the Genesis 5-Year Care Experience. Beyond complimentary scheduled maintenance and at-home valet service, this package includes complimentary bi-annual navigation and multimedia updates for 5 years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first).

We design these regular updates to give you total confidence behind the wheel by combining fresh, pin-point accurate GPS mapping with intuitive software upgrades.

What’s New in Recent Updates?

Each update delivers more than just fresh street names. Genesis engineers regularly introduce system tweaks and feature upgrades to elevate your time inside the cabin.

1. Smarter Hands-Free Calling

Stay focused on the road while staying connected. Recent software enhancements allow you to control your phone options naturally using the steering wheel Voice Recognition button:

  • "Redial": Immediately dials your last outgoing call without forcing you to glance at the screen.
  • "Call Back": Automatically returns your last incoming call (including missed calls from known contacts).

2. Sharper Route Planning & Real-Time Data

By keeping your navigation database current, your Genesis system seamlessly integrates with Genesis Connected Services to deliver live weather alerts, smart routing around traffic jams, and precise speed limit notifications.

3. User Interface Refinements

Genesis regularly optimizes display responsiveness across all audio system generations — whether your luxury sedan or SUV features a Standard-class Gen5 display or the high-definition, ultra-wide 14.5-inch widescreen displays found in our newest models.

Pre-Update Checklist: What You Need

If you prefer installing updates from the comfort of your home, preparing your gear ahead of time guarantees a quick process.

Note: You must download update files using a Windows PC or Mac. System updates cannot be downloaded directly onto smartphones, tablets, or mobile devices.

Choose Your Storage Media

Check your vehicle dashboard or owner’s manual to see if your system uses an SD Card or a USB Drive:

Before downloading your files, double-check whether your infotainment system uses an SD card slot or a USB port. If your vehicle relies on a USB drive, choose a clean 64 GB drive formatted to exFAT (some newer models may require a USB Type-C connector, and you should always avoid drives with worn or damaged contacts).

If your model features a built-in SD slot, use a high-grade 32 GB (or smaller) SD card formatted to FAT32 with a UHS-I speed rating, and avoid using microSD adapters. As a quick tip from our team, always clear any personal files or music from the drive beforehand so the entire storage space remains dedicated strictly to your vehicle’s software update.

How to Download and Install Your Update

Follow these four steps to update your Genesis multimedia system at home:

1.Download the Official Software: Computer.

Visit the official Genesis update portal on your PC or Mac and download the Navigation Updater (NaU) application.

2.Select Your Model & Download: Computer.

Launch the app and carefully select your exact Genesis model and model year. Insert your formatted 64 GB USB drive or 32 GB SD card, and the app will download and save the update files directly onto the drive.

3.Connect to Your Vehicle: In-Vehicle.

Take the USB drive or SD card to your vehicle and insert it into the primary USB media port or SD card slot (typically located near the main display screen or center console).

4.Run the Installation: In-Vehicle.

Select System Info > Update on your touchscreen. Keep your vehicle running with the engine ON during the entire process to maintain steady power. Do not turn off the ignition, switch to ACC mode, or unplug the drive until the system confirms completion.

Important Tips from Our Service Team

  • Updates are Permanent: Software updates modify system functionality and cannot be rolled back to an older version once installed.
  • Aftermarket Gear: Custom aftermarket additions (such as third-party rear-view cameras or modified sound systems) may interact differently following an OEM software update.
  • We Are Here to Help: If you ever feel uncertain about choosing the right file or running an update yourself, the team at Genesis Ajax is always ready to assist you during your regular service appointment.
